Schmeichel at United -- the sequel?
Will it be a case of following in his father's footsteps for Kasper Schmeichel? Sky Sports reports that it could be, saying Manchester United "have taken the lead over Manchester City" in the chase for the Leicester goalkeeper.
Schmeichel, the son of United legend Peter, has attracted plenty of interest since Leicester's Premier League title success. And Sky says its sources "indicate that he is United's first choice to replace David De Gea if he heads back to Spain to join Real Madrid."
It reports that United's chances of bringing Denmark international Schmeichel to Old Trafford have been improved after he linked up with agent Luca Bascherini, who has "excellent relations" with the club.
Although Schmeichel was one of several Leicester stars to sign a new long-term contract after the title triumph, Sky says he "may struggle to turn down a lucrative offer."

Last month, reports said Madrid were willing to "break the bank" to land De Gea.
City 'confident' over Walker move
Speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker with Manchester City has grown in recent days, and the Mail reports that City "are increasingly confident" they will sign him.
It writes Walker "could be the first-team player sacrificed by Mauricio Pochettino as the Spurs boss looks to raise funds." The 26-year-old was left out of the FA Cup semifinal defeat to Chelsea and the North London derby win over Arsenal, with Kieran Trippier playing instead.
And the Independent reports that Walker "has decided his future lies away from Tottenham," with Barcelona and Manchester United also interested in him.
It claims he has "fallen out with Pochettino over fitness and selection" and would cost between £35 million and £50m.
Meanwhile, the Guardian writes that Spurs "could shelve their long-standing interest in Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha" because his decision to represent Ivory Coast has sparked concern about potential absences at the African Nations Cup.

Chelsea to step up Bakayoko bid
Chelsea are in the market for Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko -- and the Mirror reports that the Premier League leaders "remain determined to pair him with N'Golo Kante in a new-look midfield."
The report states that Bakayoko, who has two years remaining on his contract but is unlikely to sign a new deal, is "understood to have his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge."
Meanwhile, the Sun claims Chelsea "are confident they have won the race to land £50m-rated Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk."
Netherlands international Van Dijk has also been linked with Arsenal, but Southampton "have been tempted after Chelsea threw young Denmark centre-half Andreas Christensen into the deal."
Tap-ins
- It could soon be time for Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce to look for a new goalkeeper, with Sam Johnstone's loan spell from Manchester United ending after the season's final Championship game. The Birmingham Mail reports that although Bruce would like to keep Johnstone next season, the 24-year-old "is attracting Premier League interest." It writes that the Villa boss could return to former club Hull to sign either Allan McGregor or Eldin Jakupovic and could also turn to Dynamo Dresden's Marvin Schwabe.
- Burnley and Crystal Palace are monitoring Chester defender Sam Hughes, who can play either in the centre or at full-back, the Mail reports. Hughes, who captains the non-league side, is also interesting Championship trio Wolves, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday.
